PDS Superabrasive cut-off wheels (EN)
Benefits of Aka-Cut 2000 HV Diamond Cut-off Wheel
● Metal bond diamond cut-off wheel designed for precision cutting of hard metallic materials up to 2000 HV, where accuracy is critical.
● Medium diamond concentration which provides a controlled balance between cutting efficiency and surface quality, reducing the risk of thermal or mechanical damage.
● A metal bond construction ensuring stable cutting behaviour and consistent performance, particularly beneficial when cutting hardened steels and high-strength alloys.
● Designed specifically for metallographic precision cutting, supporting accurate sectioning with minimal deformation and preserved microstructural integrity.
● Reduced thermal influence during cutting which helps preventing microstructural changes, which is essential for reliable metallographic analysis.
● Steel disc with diamond coating delivers high mechanical stability and contributes to a long service life under demanding cutting conditions.
● Suitable for use in both laboratory and industrial environments, where repeatability and process control are required.
● REACH compliant and non-hazardous.
● Fits standard cut-off machines with a 12.7 mm arbor hole.
Aka-Cut 2000 HV as Part of Akasel’s Cut-off Wheel Range
Within Akasel’s hardness-optimised superabrasive cut-off wheel range, Aka-Cut 2000 HV is positioned for hard metallic materials that exceed the capabilities of conventional abrasive wheels.
The wheel fills the performance range between general-purpose diamond cut-off wheels and wheels developed specifically for extreme hardness.
This makes Aka-Cut 2000 HV an ideal choice for laboratories and production facilities working with hardened steels and similar materials where accuracy, repeatability, and efficient workflow are key requirements.

Recommendations For the Best Use of Superabrasive Cut-off Wheels
For optimal performance when using Aka-Cut Superabrasive cut-off wheels (Aka-Cut 50 HV, Aka-Cut 1500 HV, Aka-Cut 2000 HV, and Aka-Cut 3000 HV), the following guidelines are recommended:
- Select the correct rotational speed based on wheel diameter. For Diamond wheels (50, 2000, and 3000 HV), recommended speeds are 2700 rpm (150 mm), 2000 rpm (200 mm), and 1600 rpm (250 mm).
- Adjust the feed rate between 0.1 and 0.5 mm/s, taking into account material hardness and sample dimensions. Higher hardness and larger cross-sections typically require slower feed rates.
- Ensure effective cooling by directing cooling water evenly to both sides of the cut-off wheel. The use of Aka-Cool additive is recommended to enhance cooling efficiency and corrosion protection.
- To maximise cooling efficiency, always aim to cut through the smallest possible cross-section.
- Dress the cut-off wheel with a dressing stick prior to first use and whenever cutting performance decreases. Regular dressing maintains cutting efficiency and extends wheel lifetime.
- After cutting, clean and dry the wheel thoroughly to minimise the risk of corrosion.
